Joe and I took the dogs over to run with their old pal, Sammy, yesterday. It's too bad Mike and Kevin weren't around, but we still had fun with Jeff. I picked up some of my gardening items, one of which being a very large clay pot! I was missing this thing and am so glad it wasn't commandeered by Mike or Jen. After getting home I potted some of the smaller tomato plants in the pot and set it in the sunniest spot on the patio. Lavender and Thyme are patiently awaiting their placement in the front bed, where they will be sunned incessantly.
I also spread some more moss killer on the yard, but this time that damn spreader gave my hand a blister that has since popped and gotten gross and sore. I also think I may have gotten some lyme and dirt in it yesterday...curiously wondering what that will do to me.
I sent Joe off fishing with my boss and his family yesterday morning. This included a 4:00am wake-up and layering of clothes. Joe took off and I had trouble sleeping again. I managed to doze off for about an hour, but awoke to the dogs whining to go out...the early rise must have thrown off their sleep/pee schedule.
I poked around the house a bit, took a shower and started some laundry, and before I knew it I was mopping the floor and creating a fix-it list. WTF is wrong with me, nobody does this kind of stuff on their own? I take myself on over to Home Depot and pick up some cleaning supplies, a new shower head, a new sink sprayer, and faucet handles. After getting it all home...without even one mishap everything is fixed!
Off to Jeanine's and down to the Farmer's Market. I soon realize my patience is wearing thin, and I should have eaten something an hour earlier! In spite of my cranky, low blood sugar existence, I still manage to get what I came for, 3 gallon size lavenders, lemon thyme, and some salad starts.
Back to Jeanine's for a movie that didn't happen...lunch...and I head home. Joe gets home shortly after with his catch, 9 rock fish & 2 Ling Cod. Congratulations to him for his first attempt at deep-sea fishing. We get everything portioned out and finally settle down. What a day!
The following video has really been bothering me; when I originally heard about it I didn't expect to see anything so blatantly cold from US troops. Maybe I am just naive, and think that they only call peaceful Iraqis "bastards" or "fuckers" in Hollywood movies, but I appear to be wrong.
The video is kind of long, but very worth watching in it's entirety. There are several disturbing moments, that left me sick to my stomach, and I really think this video should be used in training troops doing this sort of work from a helicopter. What is most disturbing is that the military tried to cover up what happened. In cases like this, where we can learn from our mistakes, the very worst thing to do is pretend like it never happened!
So please see for yourself and give me your thoughts.
Many thanks to WikiLeaks for doing what you do! As a former employee of a company that I thought was doing some illegal activities and really pushing the envelope morally, I respect everyone who blows the whistle! I hope you can keep doing everything you do!
The day started with an odd bunch of complications. Alarm, shower, oral hygiene regemine...normal blind behaviors. I head into the closet to start fumbling through my clothes, when I step in a cold wet hairball...thanks Lola!
This was going to be the beginning of the end of my patience for the day. I clean up the cat's mess, and head back into the closet for a second look, just hoping an outfit will jump out at me begging to be worn. I think I actually stood there staring, stark naked, zoned out for 5 minutes...contemplating my every combination...trying to remember what fits my fat (after Easter candy) ass. This comes complete with self-loathing and regret. Why did I skip the gym last night, why did I buy that last bag of Robin's Eggs, etc.? I go hunting around in the laundry room for more options, and finally settle on a tried and true gray skirt and black sweater. I look like a funeral attendee but it's not a scary fashion statement, so I will be fine.
So with skirts I happen to be completely aware of the condition of my kankle, thanks again oblivious drivers who hits cyclists, and I begin my ritual of heat and massaging down the swelling. Last thing to do is put some stockings on and head out the door, easier said than done. With all of my weight gain, yeah it probably only equals 5 lbs, but annoying all the same, the stockings are tight and twisted. I am fucking with them to no end, and before I know it I have put my fingernail right through them, FRICK!
Off to the grocery store to purchase new stockings, caffeinate, and chat with the coffee ladies. A random woman did tell me I looked like I was dressed for an interview, not quite as depressing as a funeral, so I will take that as a compliment...but she also said I was covered in dog fur!
Since I didn't get off to a good start I knew I needed to plan what healthy options I had for lunch. Oldschool Pizzeria does a great house salad on the cheap, and a single slice wouldn't set me too far back in calories or funds. It was the perfect meal.
From there I popped in at Dumpster Values to look for a dress or skirt for Courtney's wedding. I did manage to find a cute black skirt with a nice asymmetrical, organic, floral pattern in white stitching. It fits a little bit tight, so it should be perfect by June. I have a shirt that matches great, so now it's back to waiting for the plans to fall in line for the rest of the trip.
Courtney called and asked me about wedding photography this evening, and I hope I answered her questions thoroughly, and didn't seem to pressure her. I don't want her to feel obligated to have me do it, but at the same time I am going to do it anyway, so I would love to save her some money if I can.
Nude-iform...used to describe ones body in the nude, of course.
I misheard the word uniform in conversation...and thought "nude-iform" was said. Therefore the rest of the conversation took on another meaning for me...when I finally asked if the speaker had said "uniform" or "nude-iform" we all got a good laugh at the expense of my poor hearing.
